Group A Engineering

Group A Engineering is a leading performance automotive parts brand serving racing professionals and enthusiasts with high-quality, precision-engineered components. Known for innovation and product excellence, the company needed a robust, modern e-commerce platform that could reflect its technical leadership, streamline data processes, and engage its rapidly growing customer base.

What Was the Problem?

The Challenge

When Nexus Box took over the Group A Engineering project, the Magento 2 e-commerce platform was approximately 75% complete, but the project was stalled and riddled with critical issues. The existing development had left behind:

Unresolved Bugs and
Incomplete Functionality

Core checkout flows, product visibility, and backend features were buggy or missing entirely.

Outdated Magento Core

The Magento version was behind on security patches and missing performance enhancements included in newer releases.

Broken Search Functionality

An integrated Elasticsearch engine had been improperly configured, resulting in missing or incomplete product listings.

Static and Non-Engaging Homepage

The homepage was underwhelming, lacking both visual engagement and dynamic content to reflect the energy of the Group A brand.

In addition, integration with the company’s Sage ERP system had not been fully implemented, leaving product, order, and inventory data fragmented across systems.

How We Solved It

Our Approach & Solution

Nexus Box implemented a multi-phase recovery and enhancement plan to bring the Group A Engineering platform to full production-ready status, while also laying the groundwork for future scalability and automation.

Magento 2 Upgrade & Core Stabilization

We upgraded the Magento instance to the latest stable release, addressing a backlog of patches and bug fixes. This upgrade enhanced performance, improved system security, and opened access to new features and compatibility with modern modules.

Elasticsearch Debugging and Repair

Our engineering team performed a full audit of the Elasticsearch configuration. Indexing issues were resolved, data pipelines were repaired, and the engine was re-indexed to ensure all products were discoverable and properly filtered within category pages and search results.

Custom Dynamic Homepage Widget

To create a more engaging homepage, we designed and built a custom Magento 2 module that uses GraphQL to fetch and display real-time updates from Group A’s brand influencers. The widget pulls live content into a grid-style display, showcasing racing builds, social media engagement, and brand moments to connect with the company’s audience in a visually impactful way.

UX Enhancements and Developer QA

We performed a complete front-end and back-end quality assurance sweep, fixing lingering UI inconsistencies and streamlining the checkout process for improved usability. Mobile responsiveness, browser compatibility, and load time performance were optimized.

ERP Integration with Sage

Working alongside the client’s ERP team, we configured and deployed a REST API–based integration between Magento 2 and Sage ERP. This included:

  • Real-time synchronization of product data
  • Order status updates
  • Customer record management
  • Inventory updates from ERP to Magento

This integration brought operational alignment between the e-commerce platform and internal systems.
